Rendering Damaged Bricks

With the onset of Autumn and Winter comes the first signs of overnight frosts.As well as being a nuisance to car drivers having to clear their windscreens the frost has dramatic effects on porous brick and stone facades that have become wet from the rain.

The rain water that has been absorbed by the open pores of a weather damaged brick freezes in the cold and then expands as it becomes ice.

As the photo opposite shows the frozen ice will rip or crack the brick face off and leave the soft inner brick area open to even more rain.
