WHEN CAN IT BE USED ?

Wethertex Heavy Duty may be used on all types of masonry cement and sand finishes, concrete, brick. Asbestos, stucco, pebbledash, building blocks etc. For surfaces to be rendered use Wethertex Render before application of Wethertex Heavy Duty.

WHEN CAN IT BE APPLIED ?

Wethertex Heavy Duty can be applied at any season – even in winter frosts to minus 20 degrees -  by trowel or roller. However, do not apply on wet surfaces or surfaces on which ice has formed.

HOW IS IT APPLIED ?

After suitable preparation apply one coat of Wethertex Heavy Duty.

Trowel – apply smoothly and evenly to a thickness of about 3 –4 mm and texture with roller, sponge, stipple etc.

Roller – different rollers e.g. lambs wool, cellular foam etc give a different textured effect. A cellular foam roller will generally give a higher relief than a lambs wool roller. Load roller generously and apply with minimum pressure in short slow strokes, covering small areas at a time.

Wethertex Heavy Duty is designed to cover at an average of 2.5 kg per square metre and it is advisable not to try to spread the material in an attempt to get greater surface coverage.

Finish to be followed – texture using light vertical strokes in an upward direction from bottom to top and always in this same direction.

SURFACE PREPARATION

For best results surfaces should be firm, dry and free from grease. The following points should be noted: Mould and other growth must be removed before application. Scrub fungicidal solution into the surface and rinse with clean water, allow to dry.

Structural faults and major cracks must first be repaired. Brickwork – where necessary pointing should be brought flush with bricks using Wethertex render.

Old surfaces – remove all unsound coatings back to a firm surface by scraping and stiff brushing. On extremely porous or crumbly surfaces, first apply one coat of Wethertex stabilising solution.

Glossy and non- – porous surfaces should be roughened to obtain maximum key. Efflorescence must be removed before application of coatings.

Bleeding – when applying Wethertex over solvent sensitive materials e.g.. Bitumen, check for discolouration by applying one coat on a small patch and examine after twenty – four hours. If bleeding occurs, a special sealer is required before application of Wethertex.
