Tyrolean

Commonly thought to be a render Tyrolean is a finish to basic sand and cement backing coat. Cement is mixed to a workable consistency then “splattered” out of a Tyrolean gun. A lot of mess can be made during application if adequate protection is not used.
Tyrolean is a very brittle finish and is prone to cracking due to thermal expansion and contraction. Probably the most short lived of all renders without adequate continual protection.
When the Tyrolean finish has cracked it allows moisture to penetrate, this then freezes causing the backing coats to fail and eventually causing large sections to fall away from the wall. Once penetration has occurred water vapour in the home cannot easily escape through the walls and will be ideal conditions for black spot mould.
Other common problems:
Painted Brick :: Pebble Dash :: Blown Brickwork :: Spray Coatings :: Cement Render
Wethertex™ has a range of systems that will eliminate these problems.
